Living across cultures can provide many benefits, none the least, work opportunities, travel adventures, and the chance to establish friendships with others from around the globe while sharing and learning about your different cultures! This can be exciting, enriching, and exhilarating, but, at times, your globally mobile life may feel less glamorous, perhaps even stressful, confusing, or exhausting. To some, it may even feel overwhelming, but it doesn't have to feel this way! You don't have to go through your relocation and transition alone. As an intercultural practitioner with many years in the field while working and living abroad, I am here to guide you on your journey and equip you with useful tools, insight, and support to help fast-track your transition. Contact me at info@candiceprogler.com for a free consultation about how we can work together, so your global relocation is less stressful and more meaningful.
The life of globally mobile children can be very colorful, enriching, and impactful on each child in unique ways. Growing up in a global village, children grow and gain invaluable and irreplaceable insight and perspectives! To support families and caregivers as they help third-culture kids (TCKs) cross-culture kids (CCKs) and missionary kids (MKs) thrive throughout their global journeys, we use research-based resources and programs to facilitate smooth transitions and guide TCKs (and CCKs and MKs) in understanding and celebrating their colorful identities!
In collaboration with Kaleidoscope, I have the privilege to be leading a variety of activities for children and youth, who are living across the globe. Connecting with others who have a global lifestyle, identity, and point of view, TCKs ages 7-15 have the opportunity to take part in virtual TCK Clubs, where they can learn the basics of third culture kid identity and friendships, together with a simple debrief with peers and tools for saying good goodbyes. There are also a variety of themed Clubs available that are just for learning new skills and building community with friends who get it.
Furthermore, I offer resources, programs, and clubs locally in Denmark, to young children, teens, and families, to support TCKs' global living and learning journeys.
My journey started in small town America, a town known as "Michigan's Little Bavaria," but at 16 years old, I left for one year to be a Rotary Youth Exchange Student in Denmark. As with many others, this year changed my life forever and it not only increased my desire to travel the Globe, but it also inspired me to help others explore and experience the World, while supporting them on their journeys.
I began my career in the US with a focus on international education, cultural transitions, intercultural communication, and international talent attraction and retention at three large, extremely diverse, and dynamic universities. Following my desire to live and work abroad, and my love of Denmark, and in 2008 I moved to Denmark for work at Copenhagen Business School.
Later, I met my Danish husband, started a family, and bought a home to settle down. But, life presented us the opportunity to move to Saudi Arabia for work, so we took the chance and moved with our toddlers from Greater Copenhagen to a remote desert village along the shores of the Red Sea. We were constantly enriched by so many different cultures while our children became part of a global community of Third Culture Kids, calling Saudi Arabia home for many years!
Now, we reside in rural Denmark, amidst a growing international community on the island of Lolland. My children attend the local international school and I dedicate my time and energy to community building, supporting international education, intercultural communication, and providing transitions support to globally mobile individuals, couples, and families.
Through one-on-one and group coaching and counseling, I offer insight, personalized guidance, and valuable tools, resources, and programs to individuals, families, and organizations in the areas of career guidance, college counseling, intercultural communication training, life coaching, cultural transition support, and TCK care.
Well-being counseling has been an integral part of my work for almost 30 years. With my holistic approach, I coach and counsel others in their transitions to help minimize stress and foster enjoyment while adjusting to life abroad or when repatriating.
Working in the US, England, Denmark, and Saudi Arabia, my entire career has focused on promoting and facilitiating global mobility, while educating, guiding, and supporting individuals and their families throughout their global transitions.
I have had the privelege of working in vastly different cultures and settings across three continents throughout my career. My areas of expertise include career, university, and well-being counseling; the management of international education programs and services; global talent attraction, onboarding, and retention; intercultural communication training; and cultural transition coaching.
